Former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp is reportedly the leading candidate to replace Julian Nagelsmann as Germany coach following the team’s shock exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Reports in German media said Nagelsmann could be dismissed after Germany’s Round of 32 defeat to Paraguay, with a decision on his future expected soon. Klopp, who left Liverpool in 2024 and currently works with Red Bull’s global football network, has emerged as the overwhelming favourite to take over the national team job.
Germany’s elimination marked a third straight disappointing World Cup outing for the four time champions, piling pressure on Nagelsmann and prompting an internal review by the German Football Association.
