Nigeria’s Falconets will face England in the Round of 16 of the ongoing 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland.
The Nigerian side secured their place in the knockout stage after recording a commanding 10-1 victory over debutants New Caledonia in their final Group F match on Sunday.
The emphatic win saw the Falconets finish second in Group F with four points, following a 2-0 defeat to Spain and a goalless draw against China in their opening two matches.
The victory over New Caledonia was also Nigeria’s biggest-ever win at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
The Falconets will now face a tougher challenge against England as they continue their quest for a first-ever U-20 Women’s World Cup title.
The knockout-stage encounter is scheduled for Thursday, September 17, with the Nigerian team looking to build on their impressive attacking display against New Caledonia.
