Rivers State High Court Resumes Normal Sitting September 17 After Annual Vacation

The Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Simeon Chibuzor-Amadi, has announced that judges of the Rivers State High Court will resume normal court sittings on Thursday, September 17, 2026, following the annual judicial vacation.

The Chief Judge had earlier directed judges of the High Court to proceed on their annual vacation from Monday, July 20, to Wednesday, September 16, 2026.

In a statement issued by the Chief Registrar of the High Court, David Ihua-Maduenyi, members of the public were urged to take note of the resumption date and the return of regular court proceedings.

The statement also announced that Justice Simeon Chibuzor-Amadi has fixed Thursday, September 24, 2026, for the opening ceremony of the 2026/2027 Legal Year of the Rivers State Judiciary.

According to the statement, activities for the new legal year will begin with a special church service at 10:00 a.m. at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul’s, Rebisi, Garrison, Port Harcourt.

The service will be followed by a special court session at the Ceremonial Court Hall, Block C, High Court Complex, Port Harcourt.

Members of the public and stakeholders in the justice sector are expected to take note of the resumption and legal year opening dates.
