A Port Harcourt-based human rights activist, Charles Jaja, has challenged members of the Rivers State House of Assembly to extend their ongoing probe of PAMO University to Rivers State University (RSU).
Jaja, reacting to the lawmakers’ investigation into PAMO University, called on the House to probe the alleged expenditure of N16 billion allocated to Rivers State University during the administration of former Governor Nyesom Wike, who served as Visitor to the institution, and under the tenure of Justice Uche Ndu as Pro-Chancellor.
Speaking in an interview with Today FM’s Uchendu Ejiowhor, Jaja alleged that the level of development at the university did not correspond with the funds he said were released for developmental purposes.
He questioned how the funds were utilised and called for a thorough investigation into their expenditure.
The activist also accused members of the Rivers State House of Assembly of using the probe of PAMO University as a political tool against its founder, alleging that the lawmakers’ actions were linked to the founder’s reported estrangement from their political leader.
Jaja further alleged that while the lawmakers were investigating PAMO University, they were overlooking issues surrounding funds allocated to RSU under the management of individuals he described as political associates.
