SERAP Sues Tinubu Government Over Withheld NDDC Forensic Audit Report

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) and four concerned Nigerians have filed a lawsuit against the administration of President Bola Tinubu over its failure to publish the forensic audit report of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

SERAP’s Deputy Director, Kolawole Oluwadare, disclosed the legal action in a statement on Sunday, stating that the audit uncovered massive corruption, including the disappearance of N6 trillion from the agency between 2001 and 2019.

The group noted that despite the audit implicating several top officials and politicians, the report has remained hidden from the public. SERAP insists that withholding the report violates Nigerians’ right to truth and accountability.

The statement also referenced a recent claim by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, that the wife of a former minister allegedly received N48 billion within a year under the guise of training women in the Niger Delta.

SERAP is demanding full disclosure of the audit findings and prosecution of those implicated, arguing that transparency is critical to restoring public trust and ending impunity in public institutions.
