The Federal Government has launched a digital education intervention aimed at providing millions of senior secondary and tertiary students with free access to approved educational platforms.
The Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, announced this during the launch of the Initiative for Zero-Rated Access to Educational Platforms and Content in Nigeria, under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Alausa said the initiative is designed to ensure that poverty, geographical location and the cost of internet connectivity do not determine access to quality education.
He described the intervention as a decisive step towards expanding digital learning opportunities for Nigerian students.
The Minister also announced plans to introduce regulated internet access for children below the age of 16.
According to him, the measure is part of efforts to strengthen the protection of Nigerian children in the digital environment.
