The Federal Government has paid each member of Nigeria’s D’Tigress the naira equivalent of 100-thousand dollars as part of the reward for winning the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket Championship.

The Presidency confirmed the payment, saying the cash reward formed part of the package announced by President Bola Tinubu after the team’s victory in Côte d’Ivoire.

D’Tigress defeated Mali 78-64 in the final to secure a record fifth consecutive AfroBasket title and seventh overall.

Each official of the team has also received the naira equivalent of 50-thousand dollars, while the reward package includes national honours and three-bedroom houses in Abuja.

The Presidency said the rewards have now been fully redeemed, adding that outstanding cash rewards for the Super Falcons are also being concluded.
