The Governing Council of the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project, HYPREP, has pledged to accelerate the approval of funds for delayed projects in Ogoni.
The council made the commitment during a two-day assessment of HYPREP facilities and remediation sites across Ogoni.
Speaking on behalf of the council, Professor Barinedum Nwibere said there are established processes and procedures for the release of funds for projects.
He disclosed that funds have now been released, while approvals for other projects would be expedited.
The Governing Council also identified Lot 12 in Ogale, Eleme, and the Ogoni Power Project as priority projects.
It said the projects would be presented before the board for consideration, with a view to addressing the challenges delaying their completion.
Meanwhile, the HYPREP Project Coordinator, Professor Nenibarini Zabbey, described the assessment as a boost to cooperation between the Governing Council and the Project Coordination Office.
Zabbey, who was represented by the Director of Technical Services, Professor Demian Paul Aguiyi, expressed confidence that the council would fulfil its commitments.
