A chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Walter Akani, has criticized some members of the Rivers State House of Assembly over plans to execute constituency projects six months ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking to Today FM’s Preye Izogu, Akani said lawmakers in the 10th Assembly have spent more than three years in office without, in his assessment, implementing projects that have significantly improved the lives of their constituents.
He described the 10th Assembly as the worst since the return of democracy in Rivers State, alleging that many of the projects being discussed are not visible and are politically motivated. Akani also accused the lawmakers of failing to adequately address security and welfare concerns, urging residents to demand accountability and judge their representatives by tangible projects and policies.
