South African opposition leader, Julius Malema, has cautioned African nations against taking loans from Bretton Woods institutions and similar organisations, warning that such actions could undermine the continent’s future.
Malema gave the warning on Sunday in Enugu while delivering the keynote address at the opening ceremony of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Annual General Conference.
He described the loans as “a debt trap,” stressing that they have the potential to mortgage the future of Africa.
