The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has called on the Federal Government to support private refineries as a solution to the persistent high cost of petrol.
Speaking with reporters, the chairman of IPMAN, Port Harcourt Unit, Tekena Ikpaki, urged the government to go beyond turnaround maintenance of old refineries, describing the construction of new refineries as a more sustainable approach.
Ikpaki also highlighted that the current petrol shortage is taking a heavy toll on marketers, with many struggling to raise enough capital to maintain their usual supply levels.
