INEC PROBES LEAKAGE OF EMEKA IKE’S VOTER DATA, MISUSE OF ACCESS

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it has commenced a probe into the alleged leakage of actor Emeka Ike’s voter data and claims of misuse of authorised access to its systems.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Haruna, said the investigation followed allegations of unauthorised access to the Commission’s Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) database.

He explained that the probe also concerns the alleged publication of personal information of Emeka Ike, who was reportedly a candidate in the recent primaries of the Nigeria Democratic Congress in the Federal Capital Territory.

Haruna said the Commission is treating the matter with seriousness, assuring that all necessary steps will be taken to determine the source and circumstances surrounding the data exposure.
