The Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area, Charles Wobodo, has inaugurated new caretaker Community Development Committees (CDCs) to strengthen grassroots governance and community service.
The inauguration took place on Tuesday at the Council Secretariat in Isiokpo, where Wobodo acknowledged the efforts of the dissolved CDCs but emphasized the need for fresh leadership to drive development at the community level.
He urged the newly inaugurated leaders to return to their various communities, restore order, and work in close collaboration with ward councilors as government-recognized representatives.
Responding on behalf of the CDCs, Mbadiwe Jeremiah from Aluu Ward 13 thanked the chairman for the opportunity and pledged that the committees would not disappoint.
Our correspondent reports that the inauguration later went into a closed-door session involving security agencies, CDC leaders, and the Miyetti Allah group, with discussions focused on tackling the menace of illegal cattle grazing on farmlands in the area.
