A dietitian and a public health professional, Peace Ezebekwem who made this known in an interview with TodayFm’s Sandra Kenneth, said the use of adulterated palm oil causes cancer and other deadly diseases that may lead to untimely death.
She however, called for compulsory monitoring of palm oil sold to consumers.
Meanwhile, a palm oil producer Godwin Akandu has blamed the lack of mechanization on the poor quality of palm oil in the state.
He stated that farmers are still producing oil through the primitive method of tilling and soaking for fermenting.
Godwin further explained that the primitive method is also the reason for the continuous increase of the product as he called on government at all levels to assist farmers in ensuring quality and stress free production.
