Woman Burnt to Death Over Alleged Blasphemy in Niger

A mob in Kasuwan-Garba, Mariga Local Government Area of Niger State, has burnt a woman to death over alleged blasphemy.

The woman, who owned a restaurant, was said to have made remarks considered offensive while speaking with a customer who jokingly proposed marriage to her.

She was first taken to the District Head’s palace and later handed over to security operatives. However, the mob overpowered the security officers, lynched her, and set her ablaze.

Authorities have not yet reacted to the incident.
