MALALA YOUSAFZAI will take the role with a special focus on girls’ education, which she has been championing and for which she was nearly killed by the Taliban in 2012.
YOUSAFZAI joins a list of other UN Messengers of Peace, which includes MuhamMAD ALI, GEORGE CLOONEY, MICHAEL DOUGLAS, LEONARDO DICAPRIO, STEVIE WONDER and CHARLIZE THERON.
