President Bola Tinubu has announced the launch of a training programme for 5,000 young Nigerians as meter installers and technicians under the Presidential Metering Initiative.
The programme is aimed at equipping young people with technical skills needed in the power sector while also supporting the Federal Government’s efforts to close the country’s metering gap and reduce estimated billing for electricity consumers.
Officials said the initiative is expected to strengthen local capacity in meter installation, create jobs for young Nigerians and speed up the nationwide deployment of smart meters under the government’s ongoing electricity sector reforms.
