President Bola Tinubu has pledged to donate all his salaries since assuming office in May 2023 to a newly established welfare fund aimed at supporting members of the Nigerian Armed Forces and their families.
Tinubu made the announcement in a statement he personally issued on Sunday to mark his 74th birthday. He explained that the fund is designed to provide direct support to wounded service personnel, particularly those who have lost limbs in the line of duty.
The President added that the initiative would also assist widows, widowers, and children of military personnel who lost their lives while serving the country, noting that the gesture is part of efforts to honour their sacrifices and improve their welfare.
