Supreme Council of Ogoni Traditional Rulers Praises Rivers Court’s Order to Resolve MOSOP Leadership Crisis

The Supreme Council of Ogoni Traditional Rulers has expressed commendation for the Rivers State High Court sitting in Saakpenwa, Tai Local Government, which granted an order to resolve the ongoing leadership crisis within the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP).

Justice D. G. Kio approved the request following an appeal by the traditional rulers’ leadership, led by King Samuel Nnee, urging that the MOSOP dispute be settled outside the courtroom. The judge mandated a two-month period for the traditional rulers to unify the leadership of MOSOP and bring an end to the protracted crisis.

Reacting to the court’s ruling, Gbenemene (King) Samuel Nnee of Tai Kingdom expressed gratitude for the opportunity granted to the traditional authorities to mediate and resolve the dispute. He emphasized that having a united and peaceful MOSOP is crucial for the seamless resumption of oil production in Ogoni, given the region’s strategic importance in the ongoing struggle.
