Initiative for Transparent Strategy and Good Leadership Denounces Allegations Against Ex-Emohua Chairman

The Initiative for Transparent Strategy and Good Leadership has strongly condemned recent allegations claiming that the immediate past Chairman of Emohua Local Government, David Omereji, borrowed six billion naira during his tenure.

Speaking at a media conference in Port Harcourt, the group’s President General, Chizy Enyi, dismissed these claims as unfounded and politically motivated. He affirmed that all capital projects executed under Omereji’s administration adhered to proper procedures, with each project receiving approval from the Bureau of Public Procurement, which issued Certificates of No Objection.

Enyi highlighted that a total of 22 projects were completed during Omereji’s tenure, with 19 of these initiatives personally initiated by the former chairman. He challenged the accusers to produce any evidence or documents within seven days that substantiate the claim that Omereji borrowed funds from any financial institutions, whether operational or defunct.

Furthermore, Chizy Enyi called on Emohua’s Administrator, Franklin Ajinwo, to clarify the outcomes of his recent meetings with key council officers and contractors involved in ongoing road and electrification projects. According to Enyi, both contractors confirmed that they received Instruments of Standing Payment Orders (ISPO), indicating transparency in the payment processes.

The group’s statement underscores its stance against unfounded accusations and calls for accountability and transparency in local government administration.
