The Petroleum Minister gave this indication in a brief remark at a town hall meeting in hosted by the Rivers State Government for members of the high-powered Federal Government delegation led by Acting President, Professor YEMI OSINBAJO.
He was reacting to a recent petition by the Rivers State Government to the Nigerian Senate, seeking for federal intervention to prevail on Shell not to leave Port Harcourt.
; Rivers State Governor NYESOM WIKE has made a case for oil wells ceded from the states to be returned.
In the interim, Governor WIKE demanded for crude oil proceeds from the contentious oil wells to be lodged in special accounts pending the resolution of the legal disputes.
Governor WIKE’s demand is part of a long list of expectations of the Rivers State Government from the Federal Government, which he tabled before the Acting President.
The Governor also called for urgent attention on the Port Harcourt International Airport and the East-West Road to bring them up to acceptable standards.
In his address to wrap up the town hall meeting; Acting President, YEMI OSIANBAJO highlighted some of the steps that have been taken on the Ogoni cleanup programme.
He also confirmed that a ten-million dollars take off grant has been provided for the cleanup exercise to begin as recommended in the UNEP Report.
The Acting President also confirmed ongoing efforts to establish modular refineries, with the participation of individuals who are presently involved in illegal oil refining, as well the continuation of the amnesty programme for repentant militants.
