Security operatives have arrested a major terrorist commander identified as MOHAMMED USMAN, who is also widely known as KHALID AL-BARNAWI.

The suspect also goes by the following aliases KAFURI, NAZIRU, Alhaji YAHAYA, Mallam DAUDA, and Alhaji TANIMU.Operatives of the Department of State Security arrested the man at his hiding place in Lokoja, Kogi State on 1st April.A statement released by the DSS said AL-BARNAWI is a founding member of the Boko Haram, and later led a breakaway faction to form what became known as Jama’atAnsarulMuslimim Fi Biladi Sudan.The statement further revealed that KHALID AL-BARNAWI had coordinated terrorist activities in Nigeria, and at the same time recruited for terrorist training by Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb.He is also alleged to have taken part in many terrorist attacks in Bauchi, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Kogi and Sokoto states, as well as the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
