A senior Russian military officer has been killed in a car bombing in Moscow.
Russia’s Investigative Committee confirmed that Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov died early this morning after an explosive device planted under a car detonated.
Sarvarov, aged 56, was the head of the Russian armed forces’ operational training department. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, while no immediate claim of responsibility has been made.
The attack marks one of the most high-profile assassinations of a senior military figure in the Russian capital in recent times.
