The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has criticized the Catholic Bishops over their call on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to remain neutral in the 2027 general elections.
Wike made the remarks on Tuesday during a media chat in Abuja, where he urged the clerics to be objective in their assessment of the nation’s electoral umpire.
The FCT Minister argued that while religious leaders have the right to express their views on national issues, their comments on the electoral process should be balanced and based on facts.
His comments come amid growing public discussions over preparations for the 2027 general elections and calls by various stakeholders for credible, free, and fair polls.
