Rivers Flood Simulation Exercise Ends Today

The five-day flood simulation exercise organised by the Rivers State Central Working Committee on Flood Management and Control will conclude today in Mbiama, Ahoada West Local Government Area.

The exercise, conducted in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), was designed to prepare flood-prone communities across the state for possible emergencies.

According to the committee, participation was made mandatory for representatives from flood-prone Local Governments, including Andoni, Oyigbo, Eleme, Opobo-Nkoro, Ogu-Bolo, Gokana, Emohua, Tai, Khana, Etche, Bonny, Degema, Obio/Akpor, and Port Harcourt.

The committee also directed LGA administrators to nominate two observers each, particularly for the Monday, August 25th session at Mbiama Bridge, while ensuring full participation throughout the programme.

It identified the Orashi region comprising Ahoada West, Ahoada East, Abua/Odual, and Onelga as the most affected area, urging administrators from these LGAs to engage actively with at least ten community representatives in all activities.
