The Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Foreign Affairs and Protocol, Ademola Osodi, has downplayed concerns over the President’s third consecutive absence from the United Nations General Assembly, UNGA.
The Presidency on Sunday announced that President Tinubu had mandated Vice President Kashim Shettima to represent him and lead Nigeria’s delegation to the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
The decision has attracted criticism from some quarters, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who called for an explanation from President Tinubu over his absence from the global gathering for the third consecutive year.
However, Osodi has played down the concerns, amid the ongoing debate over the President’s decision not to attend the UNGA in person.
