Niger State Governor, Umaru Bago, has called for an executive order from the Presidency or the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development to ban mining activities in areas identified as problematic across the state.
Governor Bago said the state government requires stronger intervention from the Federal Government due to limitations in enforcing mining regulations.
The governor also called for decisive action to address the presence of minors at mining sites, stressing the need to stop the practice.
He said stronger regulatory measures were necessary to address challenges associated with mining activities across the state.
