PETROAN Urges Prompt Conclusion of Fuel Import Proposal Evaluation

The Petroleum Products Retail Owners Association of Nigeria, PETROAN, Rivers State Branch, has called for the prompt conclusion of the ongoing evaluation of fuel import proposals.

Speaking to Today FM, the association’s Vice Chairman in Rivers State, Addison Kanu, urged authorities to conclude the process by December to ensure stability in fuel supply and avoid uncertainty in the downstream sector.

Kanu said Nigeria currently relies on licensed importers and private firms authorised by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, NMDPRA.

On fuel adulteration, he dismissed claims that franchise stations sell adulterated products, stressing that PETROAN would sanction any member found culpable.

He added that NMDPRA, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, NUPRC, and other stakeholders are intensifying efforts to prevent fuel adulteration.
