As part of activities marking the 30th anniversary of the Ogoni Martyrs, the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP) over the weekend laid wreaths on the graves of the fallen heroes.
Speaking to journalists after the ceremony, MOSOP President, Professor Olu Anda-Wai Ogosu, said the tribute was meant to honor the martyrs and reaffirm that their struggle for justice will never be forgotten.
Earlier, the Chairman of the 30th Anniversary Planning Committee, Anselem Johnmiller, emphasized that honoring the Ogoni Martyrs is incomplete without supporting the families left behind. He called for renewed commitment to preserving the martyrs’ legacy.
Our reporter also spoke with some of the families, who shared emotional accounts of the hardships they have endured since the tragic loss of their loved ones.
