Italy legend Paolo Maldini has said Pep Guardiola did not turn down the opportunity to become head coach of the Italian national team because of financial considerations.
Maldini, who previously worked with Guardiola at Manchester City, said the Spanish manager’s decision was based on factors beyond money.
According to Maldini, Guardiola had other considerations that influenced his decision not to take charge of the Azzurri.
