Port Harcourt based Rights Lawyer; OC HIGHER-KING in his reaction described the action of Governor WIKE as a raid on the Nigerian constitution.
HIGHER-KING in an interview with our correspondent said the issue of elected local government chairmen and their suspension has been long settled by the Supreme Court that declares that no Governor has the right to suspend elected chairmen.
The Rights Lawyer said the way no President has the right to suspend an elected Governor, same way the Governor has no right to take an action against lawfully elected chairmen.
Rivers State Governor, NYESOM WIKE suspended the Council Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state, SOLOMON ABEL-EKE and his Deputy for failing to implement the State Government’s directive on the closure of markets.
