Today FM’s correspondent gathered that the suspected cultists, who invaded the community with a tricycle popularly called Keke Napepe and an eighteen seaters commercial bus, also whisked away some men alive yesterday night.
Ejike Kekwaru, Onyema Kekwaru, Endurance Nmekini who are members of the Onelga Security Peace and Adversary Committee and one other who is a member of Emohua Local Government Vigilante Service were shot dead.
Two of them were beheaded and their private parts chopped off.
A source from the community who confirmed the killing to Today FM, disclosed that the suspected cultists who invaded the community, are allegedly some indigenes who were chased out for belonging to cult groups terrorizing the community at the time.
Our source said when the criminals fully armed arrived the community, they said they are back to the community to reclaim their territory.
In the meantime, the Rivers State Police Command has attributed the killings to cult clash between suspected cult groups in the area
The spokesperson for the Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed that 4 persons died from the attack.
Iringe-Koko in a statement, disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Nwonyi Polycarp has ordered tactical units to be deployed to the area with a view to arresting the perpetrators while investigation is ongoing.
