Eight students of the University of Jos have died in a road accident on Zaria Road in Jos, Plateau State. Three other students were injured in the crash.
The accident happened early Thursday morning around 2:30 a.m. when a bus carrying 11 students collided with a trailer near Unity Bank in Jos North. Seven students died at the scene, and one later died in the hospital.
Authorities say the crash was caused by speeding and wrongful overtaking by the bus driver. The Federal Road Safety Corps has urged drivers to avoid night journeys, excessive speed, and unsafe driving to prevent such accidents.
