Concerns have been raised over the state of educational infrastructure at Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, particularly the institution’s Works Department, which is reportedly not functioning effectively.
The deteriorating facilities are said to be affecting learning, limiting students’ practical exposure and creating discomfort and safety concerns. The Rector declined an interview but confirmed that the matter had been brought to the attention of the Rivers State Government.
He said rehabilitation of the affected facilities is among projects outlined for the institution and would be undertaken at the appropriate time. Meanwhile, students from other tertiary institutions across the state also complained of inadequate infrastructure, including poorly equipped laboratories and overcrowded living spaces.
