Nigerian students have criticised the Federal Government’s proposed 100MB daily data plan, describing the allocation as inadequate for their academic and digital needs.
The data plan is part of the Federal Government’s effort to reduce internet costs and improve access to digital learning for students across the country.
However, some students have questioned the usefulness of a 100MB daily allocation, arguing that the amount could be exhausted quickly through basic academic activities such as downloading course materials, watching educational videos and conducting online research.
The students instead called for the provision of reliable and affordable internet access on university and other tertiary institution campuses.
They suggested that campus-wide Wi-Fi would provide a more sustainable solution by allowing students to access educational resources without having to depend solely on limited mobile data.
The students’ concerns highlight the growing demand for affordable and reliable internet access as digital tools become increasingly important to education in Nigeria.
