Zimbabwean Opposition parties renew calls for Mugabe to step down

They are the ninety-three-year-old ruler of running the country from a hospital bed after he reportedly flew to Singapore for medical treatment.

A spokesman for the main opposition Movement for Democratic Change, OBERT GUTU, was quoted in a report saying MUGABE is no longer a young man.

GUTU added that the punishing schedule the President gives himself is not good for his physical, mental and emotional health.

He said the frequent visits to Singapore serve to confirm his health is in need of constant care and monitoring.

The opposition urged MUGABE to immediately step aside and allow Zimbabwe to move forward under a new leader.

Also speaking, KARAUONE CHIHWAYI, of a breakaway MDC faction, expressed a similar view, stressing that Zimbabwe has become stagnant because the Zanu-PF President is running the show from his hospital bed.

It may interest you to note that the ruling party has again nominated President MUGABE to run for elections next year, which seeks to further extend his reign beyond thirty-seven years, having been in power since 1980.
