AMAECHI had during a symposium in Port Harcourt to mark his fifty-second birthday, addressed issues affecting Rivers State and his frosty relations with his former Chief of State and now Governor of the state.
Among other things; the immediate past governor challenged his successor to point out any road project that was started and completed by the present administration.
But in a transcript of the interview circulated through a statement from the Government House Media Team, Governor WIKE described AMAECHI’s criticism of projects and programmes of the State Government as unfortunate.
Governor WIKE stressed that his administration would continue to deliver projects to improve the living condition of the Rivers people.
Governor WIKE said his administration was built on transparency, accountability and commitment to the welfare of the people.
WIKE said it was unfortunate that someone who was celebrating his fifty-second birthday would tell Rivers people what is not correct.
He maintained that the immediate past administration abandoned projects that were started by previous administrations, but he decided to complete all abandoned projects that will positively impact the lives of Rivers people.
Governor WIKE particularly mentioned his administration paid six billion naira for the completion of the Epirikom-Rumuolumeni Road, which he said was awarded in 2012 at the cost of ten point three billion naira.
The Governor said the construction of the road was left at twenty-five percent when he assumed office in May, 2015.
He further claimed that the Transportation Minister returned to Rivers State over the weekend in a bid to launder his image, in view of the APC structure in the state, which he said had collapsed.
