US targets senior al-Qaeda leader in a drone strike in north-east of Afghanistan.

An unnamed US military official at the Pentagon confirmed that FAROUQ AL-QAHTANI may have been killed in the attack on Sunday.

Reports say AL-QAHTANI was targeted along with his deputy in separate strikes in Kunar province.

Qatari national and Saudi-born AL-QAHTANI has been on a US list of most wanted terrorists since February.

He was accused of involvement in plots targeting Europe and the United States.

Meanwhile; the Afghan government spokesman ABDUL GHANI MOSAMEM said fifteen insurgents were killed in Sunday’s operation, including two Arabs and a number of Pakistani Taliban fighters.
