UN release report on Arab Spring 2011 protest.

The report prepared by the UN’s Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia indicates that the protest movement cost the Arab world a whopping six hundred and fourteen billion dollars in growth.

The estimate, which is the first of its kind by a major economic body, said the figure represents an equivalent of six percent of the region’s total GDP between 2011 and 2015.

You will recall that the Arab Spring uprisings started in Tunisia, and led to the toppling of leaders of four countries.

It also ignited civil wars in Libya, Syria and Yemen that are still raging.
