Reports say a five point five-magnitude quake first struck near Visso in Macerata province, which was followed two hours later by another six point one magnitude tremor in the same area.
The latest disaster comes after three hundred people were killed in a similar earthquake and multiple aftershocks in the south of Visso in August.
