The Senator representing Kaduna Central in the National Assembly, SHEHU SANI has backed the Federal Government’s move to open talks with Boko Haram insurgents. Senator SANI urged President MUHAMMADU BUHARI to used credible channels and steps to reach a possible agreement with the militants. The senator noted that the government must be seen to be willing to make concessions for the sake of peace in the north-east region of Nigeria. The Kaduna Central senator also called for a waiver for any federal negotiator because of a law banning communication with the insurgent group. The Boko Haram militants have killed over twelve thousand people since they began their insurgency in 2009.
