The Rivers State Ministry of Women Affairs has rallied stakeholders to join hands to put an end to all forms of violence against women.The call for action became necessary against the backdrop of startling statistics indicating that about one hundred and twenty million girls in the world have suffered some form of sexual abuse at some point in their lives.In her observation during the programme, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Women Affairs also highlighted the danger of exposing women to genital mutilation.The Permanent Secretary who was represented by a director in the ministry, BLESSING DIENYE, said such acts of violence against women amount to violations of their rights.Our Correspondent reports that the theme for the awareness programme is “From Peace in the Home to Peace in the World.
