The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has asked a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos to freeze the assets of former Niger Delta militant leader, GOVERNMENT EKPEMUPOLO, also known as TOMPOLO.The same court recently issued two bench warrants for the arrest of TOMPOLO, which are still subsisting, despite moves by lawyers to the accused person to appeal the ruling. In a motion filed by EFCC counsel FESTUS KEYAMO, the anti-graft agency listed ten assets belonging to TOMPOLO to be slammed with the court hammer, pending when he surrenders himself for prosecution. The assets include all properties of Global West Vessel Specialist Limited, all properties of Muhaabix Global Services Limited, a property known as “Tompolo Dockyard” at Effurun in Warri, Delta State and a Diving School at Escravos River.TOMPOLO is accused of alongside nine others of diverting and converting forty-six billion naira belonging to the Nigerian Maritime Administration and safety Agency. The former militant leader denies the allegation, and turned around to accuse the federal government of witch-hunt because he refused to join the ruling All Progressives Congress.
