The move comes as tension continues to swell in the aftermath of the defeat of President YAHYA JAMMEH by opposition candidate, ADAMA BARROW.
President JAMMEH had initially conceded defeat to end his twenty-two years in power, but turned around to reject the result of election.
The latest development comes after West African leaders, including Nigeria’s President MUHAMMADU BUHARI, held talks with President JAMMEH.
The Economic Community of West African States may have to send in troops to the Gambia to quell any bloodletting, if the suggestion by the head of the regional bloc, MARCEL DE SOUZA, is anything to go by.
Ghana’s President JOHN MAHAMA who was also defeated in a recent election is part of the visiting delegation to the Gambia, which also includes Liberia’s President, ELLEN JOHNSON SIRLEAF.
