Nigeria’s Super Falcons have been knocked out of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, WAFCON, after suffering a 1-0 quarter-final defeat to rivals Cameroon on Sunday.
The defeat ended Nigeria’s hopes of defending their continental title and securing an automatic qualification ticket for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
Cameroon advanced to the semi-finals after securing victory over the nine-time African champions.
However, Nigeria’s World Cup hopes are not completely over, as the Super Falcons could still qualify through the play-in route available to losing quarter-finalists.
