The Senate has called for the removal of the Registrar-General of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Husaini Magaji, over his repeated failure to honour invitations to appear before lawmakers.
The resolution followed a motion raised by Senator Orji Uzor Kalu during a session of the Senate Committee on Finance, which had in attendance members of the President’s economic team.
At the commencement of the meeting, lawmakers expressed displeasure over the absence of the CAC boss, who had been invited to provide an account of the commission’s activities. The session reportedly began on a tense note as agency heads were being introduced and Magaji’s absence was noted.
The Senate subsequently resolved to seek his removal, citing disregard for legislative oversight and failure to comply with invitations from the National Assembly.
