Senate President, BUKOLA SARAKI seems determined not to appear before the Code of Conduct Tribunal to answer allegations of false declaration of assets. This is because SARAKI’s lawyers earlier today approached the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja to seek an order for stay of execution of the bench warrant issued against him by the Code of Conduct Tribunal. You will recall that the Tribunal sitting in Abuja had on Friday ordered the arrest of Senator SARAKI for failing to appear in person to defend the charges brought against him by the Code of Conduct Bureau. SARAKI had cited an injunction obtained from a Federal High Court for stay of proceedings against him by the Code of Conduct Tribunal. The injunction was overruled by the Chairman of the tribunal, on the ground that it was obtained from a court of coordinate jurisdiction. After the ruling on Friday, lawyers to the Senate President promised to make him available before the tribunal on the resumption of sitting today.
