Senate Passes NDDC Budget.

The figure shows a reduction from the two hundred and sixty point zero-six billion naira that was forwarded to the Senate by President MUHAMMDU BUHARI.

In passing the reduced Budget for the NDDC, the Senate considered the economic reality in the country and resolved that the approved figure would still serve the basic needs of the NDDC.

The passage of the budget followed the presentation of the report of the Senate Committee on NDDC headed by Senator PETER NWAOBOSHI of the PDP from Delta State.

The NDDC Budget is expected to be funded through contributions from oil companies, proceeds accruing to the Ecological Fund, revenue brought forward and Federal Government contribution.

However; it appears that arrears of fifty billion naira contribution from the Federal Government that was captured in the NDDC Budget had to be scrapped because it was not covered in the 2016 Appropriation Act of the Federal Government.

In his remarks; the Senate President BUKOLA SARAKI called on the NDDC Management to ensure that the budget is fully implemented to restore hope and sanity in the Niger Delta region.
