S’East, South South Governors meet in Enugu, discuss region.

The meeting also discussed inter-regional cooperation, which the host Governor, IFEANYI UGWUANYI said would help solve developmental issues in the region the South-East and South-South regions.

 

He emphasized that road infrastructure development and security are some of the areas that require inter-governmental synergy to solve them.

 

The communiqué adopted at the end of the meeting at the Nike Lake Resort was read to newsmen by Governor EMMANUEL UDOM of Akwa Ibom State.

 

Governor EMMANUEL UDOM was also appointed as Interim Chairman of the Forum of South-East and South-South Governors to pursue inter-regional cooperation and integration for mutual the economic benefits.

 

 

The meeting was attended by Governors ROCHAS OKOROCHA of Imo; NYESOM WIKE of Rivers; UDOM EMMANUEL of Akwa Ibom, Professor BEN AYADE of Cross River, OKEZIE IKPEAZU of Abia and SERIAKE DICKSON of Bayelsa, while Anambra State Governor was represented by his Deputy, Doctor NKEM OKEKE..

 

Other political office holders, including the Deputy Senate President, IKE EKWEREMADU, and the President of Ohanaeze Nd’igbo, Chief JOHN NWODO, also attended the meeting.

 

A statement released from the Rivers State Government House confirmed that that the next meeting of the group has been scheduled for August 27th this year in Port Harcourt.
