Wali, who was reacting to the creation of the Rivers State Investment Agency, a result of the Investment Summit held in May, emphasized the need for the agency to foster a conducive environment for businesses.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Today FM’s Ifunanya Obeme-Ndukwe, Wali commended Governor Siminalayi Fubara for his commitment to establishing the Investment Agency, moving beyond mere rhetoric.
Despite noting that the ideal time to have established such an agency was in the past, Wali acknowledged that the governor’s decision to create the agency is a step in the right direction.
Wali expressed concerns about the management of the investment agency, stating that it should not be used for political compensation by Governor Fubara.
He identified the recruitment of competent leaders as a significant challenge in Nigeria, urging the state government to seek out skilled Rivers people, aged 20 to 40, who can manage the agency effectively, think innovatively, and attract international interest.
